SHILLONG, NOV 13: Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) will be holding a public rally at Malki ground on December 12, to enlighten its supporters on the various issues being taken up by the party.
The decision was taken by the central executive committee (CEC) of the HSPDP in a meeting held last week.
Informing this at a press conference held here on Monday, HSPDP president Ardent M Basaiawmoit said that the public rally will be attended by the supporters of the party from across the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region.
“We want to enlighten our supporters on the various issues of the party and also about the pre-poll alliance forged with the United Democratic Party (UDP) before we proceed towards the upcoming 2018 assembly poll,” he said.
Appealing to all the supporters to attend the public rally, Basaiawmoit said that the decision to hold the rally was taken at the recently held general council of the party, which had restricted the number of party workers/supporters to the said meeting.
According to him, the rally will be a convergence of all the supporters of the party, which is gaining strength day by day.
On the other hand, Basaiawmoit also informed that the party would also organize a workshop for its candidates for the 2018 election on November 28.
While the venue for the workshop will be made known later, he however said that the workshop is necessary in order to get the candidates acquainted with the functioning and principles of the party.
Out of 36 seats in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region, the HSPDP so far have declared to field as many as 17 candidates.
