Wanswett, Medical Superintendent, Ganesh Das Government Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Shillong, Dr. H Giri, Sr. Consultant, Pediatrics, Ganesh Das Government Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Shillong, Dr. R. R. Marak, Nodal officer, NPCDCS, East Khasi Hills, Academic Counselors for the course, Doctors and Health officials were present during the Inaugural function. The Programme was convened by Shri. Wishmanly Pamdhai, District Programme Manager, East Khasi Hills, Shillong.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. J Lyngwa said that the Programme is one of the components of the Comprehensive primary Health Care Initiative under NHM. The Course is of 6 months duration and after successful completion, the candidates will be posted as Community Health Officer in the Sub Centres upgraded as Health &Wellness Centres under NHM. National Health Mission has planned to strengthen Sub Centres as Health & Wellness Centers (H&WCs) for implementing public health programmes better and to enable comprehensive primary health care service delivery, including disease prevention and health promotion.
