SHILLONG, MAY 20: Demanding that the Meghalaya government must initiate inquiry into the use of “girl-child” by militant groups in Garo hills to combat, distribute arms and propagate militancy, the Civil Society Women Organisation has threaten that if the enquiry is not instituted within one week it will be forced to approach the court for a CBI inquiry.
A letter submitted to the Meghalaya chief secretary WMS Pariat on Monday said that it is the state’s duty to bring back the misguided youth into the mainstream and not try to use them against others to kill.
The CSWO demand came following reports of the alleged nexus between deputy superintendent of police TC Chacko and the ANVC-B where three sophisticated weapons were handed over to the ANVC-B to take on the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) besides the setting up of camps for young girls.
The CSWO letter to Pariat said that the unholy nexus between politicians, police and the underground outfits should be immediately inquired into and if found guilty should not be condoned.
The CSWO alleged that Chacko has a series of killings under his belt and the state seems not only to protect but also promote him. –By Our Reporter
