SHILLONG, JUNE 4: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) on Saturday demanded that the district administration postpone the proposed interview for the post of driver slated on June 6-7 because of the alleged manipulation reflected in the results of the written and practical test.
In a complaint submitted to the deputy commissioner of West Garo Hills District Pravin Bakshi, GSU president Tengsak G Momin alleged that there are two roll numbers – 706 and 925 which appeared in the results of driving practical test. However, the same roll numbers do not appear in the written test results.
“How could these two candidates who failed in written test appear for Driving Test Practicals? We believe it is a manipulation,” Momin said.
According to him, if it was a printing mistake, it should have been corrected lest the successful candidates be deprived of the opportunity to appear for the interviews.
While the results for the written test were declared on April 19, the list of successful candidates after the driving test practicals was declared on May 26 by the District Selection Committee (DSC) of West Garo Hills District.
Demanding that such discrepancy should be immediately corrected, Momin however said, “If the exams conducted prove to be a sham, fresh exams should be conducted.”
He also added, “We demanded that the interview proposed to be held on June 6 and 7 be postponed until the matter is resolved.”
The GSU also threatened to take out a joint action with other NGOs – ADE, AYWO, FKJGP and FAF- if the authority concerned fails to address such gross manipulation.-By Our Reporter
