SHILLONG, NOV 10: The underground – politician nexus will figure as the opposition is planning to go hammer and tong on this issue during the upcoming winter session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, which will commence from November 21.
“We are definitely going to raise the issue pertaining to the underground – politician nexus in the upcoming winter session,” United Democratic Party (UDP) leader said. The decision to raise the issue came after police file charge-sheet against the minister, who is also the working president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Deborah Marak for allegedly using militants during the assembly elections last year.
The UDP is part of the Meghalaya People Forum (MPF), which comprises of the National People Party (NPP), Garo National Council (GNC) and an Independent.
Besides, the issues relating to the lack of governance across the state, the MBOSE notification on Khasi language, the GHADC elections, pact with ANVC are among the major issues, the oppositions is likely to raise in the upcoming assembly session.
The winter session will be of only six working days.
The Assembly’s Business Advisory Committee (BAC) met on Monday to finalize the list of business to be taken up during the session.
Sources informed that the session, which will conclude on November 28, would have four days for government business and two days for private members business.- By Our Reporter
