TURA, APR 9: The police managed to bust the GNLA hideout at Amingokgre village, near Dadenggre in West Garo Hills on Thursday as the security forces continued its offensive on the militants. The village is about 43 km from Tura, the district headquarter.
Six GNLA militants were taking shelter at the makeshift camp, when police located the spot today. There was a brief exchange of fire. However, taking advantage of the habitation, the rebels managed to escape.
“No one was injured during the operation”, Mukesh Singh,SP of West Garo hills informed.
The rebels opened fire at the police as they were approaching toward the spot. “We retaliated back but they managed to run taking cover of the civilians”, Singh added.
Police recovered 9 mm pistol, two magazine, 29 live rounds of 7.65, GNLA demand pads and receipts. Operation is on in the area.- From Our Correspondent
