Police arrest two for possession of banned drugs

Shillong, Oct 1 :A thirty years old lady Suman Deb along with twenty-eight years old Vanlalruata Fanai were arrested from lower Nongrim hills for possession of banned drugs.  The police arrested both of them at around 7.30 pm Monday.

The police seized 224 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon and 140 tablets of Nitrazepam from both of them. According to the police these drugs cannot be sold without a doctor prescription. These days banned drugs have become the latest addiction for the youths and lot  easier for the drug peddlers to sell as it is available in the pharmacies.

East Khasi hills SP M  Kharkhrang told this reporter that police are investigating whether these two arrested persons are working or have any connection with any of the pharmacies. Last time police had arrested a pharmacist from Laitumkhrah for selling the banned drugs to college students.- By Our Reporter
