Minister in-charge PHE Marcuise N Marak on Tuesday lauded the department for the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.
Speaking to reporters, Marak said, “During the last two week, I have been aggressively touring the state, especially from the Garo Hills side. I have had a review meeting of all the divisions of Garo Hills with regards to the Jal Jeevan Mission. I have been inspecting the treatment plants, I have been inspecting distribution tanks and I have been talking to the people also whether they are satisfied with the kind of water supply that the department is giving to them and I have monitored the water quality testing also.”
He was accompanied by the commissioner secretary, chief engineer, additional chief engineers and others.
On the performance of the department, Marak said, “I found it is quite successful and I am quite happy to say that our engineers are doing very well to provide water to the people and today I would say proudly that we are closely touching our targets before Christmas this year, we were trying to give (water tap) connections to almost 5 lakh households.”
He said as of today, a total of 4,65,992 households are connected with water taps adding the average is at 71.5%.
“I am very happy to say that we are doing our level best and some of the terrains are so difficult but our officers were on the job so actively and so sincerely,” he added.
