SHILLONG, AUG 3: Two masked miscreants hurled petrol bombs at the office of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) in Shillong on Monday, police said.
According to MSPCB officials, the incident took place between 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm.
The two men arrived on separate scooters and targeted the building at two separate points inside the office premises.
“There was no damage to the property,” an official said.
The Board has filed an FIR at Laitumkhrah Police Station.
A police team along with a forensic team visited the site and collected evidence from the spot.
SP (City) Dangsan Khyriem confirmed that two petrol bombs were hurled.
“They (MSPCB) will be filing an FIR and once that is done we will immediately register the case. Investigation has already started to nab the culprits,” he said.
The forensic team has confirmed that the explosives used were petrol bombs.
When asked if the attack could be linked to recent protests against the Shree Cement plant, the SP said the motive was not yet clear. “I do not know as that is pending investigation,” he said.
