SHILLONG, SEPT 28: Congress legislators from Garo hills districts have taken umbrage at the personal attack launched at the chief minister Mukul Sangma by women activists calling him “Dr. Mukul Begum and duplicate A’chik Cheap Mini-star” which they felt smack of racial and communal overtones.
A resolution condemning the personal attack on the chief minister was taken by the Congess legislators from Garo hills during the meeting held at the MLA hostel on Friday.
.On Wednesday women ngos demonstrating to demand immediate implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state have displayed placards that read – “Dr. Mukul Begum, duplicate A’chik Cheap Mini-star.”
The legislators meeting expressed shock and anguish over the attack on the chief minister’s identity as most of them felt that the matter has already been dismissed by the high court and the Maharis has already reaffirmed that he is part and undisputed Member of Manda Mahari.’
The legislators felt such uncalled for statements should not have come from such a highly civilized society. The release of the meeting issued on Saturday said that friends from Khasi, Jaintia have sent their messages condemning such barbaric and irrational criticism against the chief minister by vested interest.
The legislators urged the state government to take strong action against the wrongdoers who are responsible spreading such defamatory against the chief minister.- By Our Reporter
