SHILLONG, NOV 27: Passing out parade of 41st batch comprising of 10 women police and 46 men of Unarmed Branch Constable was held at Police Training School, Umran Ri-Bhoi on Friday.
These 56 Constables endured 11 months effective training both on Outdoor and Indoor subjects. They were trained on wide range of topics involving techniques and skill, physical training, handling of tactical weapons and handling of Law and Order situation; the indoor curriculum included subjects like Major Acts, Minor Acts, APM and imparting of training on Gender Sensitization, Human Rights, and Community Policing.
The Attestation Parade was reviewed by the Chief Guest H. Nongpluh, IPS Additional Director General of Police (SB/CID), Meghalaya, Shillong in the presence of other senior Police Officers and Dignitaries. In his address the Chief Guest congratulated the new inductees and appreciated their brilliant drill display. The Chief Guest had also encouraged and advised the Recruit Constables to give their best effort in performing their duties and to protect the system, emphasising on the uniformity of the disciplined forced, the Chief Guest impressed upon all members, the sense of responsibility and authority that each of the uniformed police official carries. The Chief Guest also mentioned that Police is probably the only service in the world which calls for supreme sacrifice, thereby, there is a need to maintain discipline of the highest order. In a fast-paced world, the need to adapt to changes is important and that Basic Training is only an initial platform which provides conditioning to the requirement of policing. The Chief Guest also mentioned that though this is the 41st Passing Out Parade (POP) but yet it is a part of history as this is the transition batch from Police Training School to Meghalaya Police Academy. The Parade ended with a beautiful peeling off synchronised and coordinated with impeccable band display from 1st MLP Battalion, Mawiong.
