SHILLONG, NOV 26: On the backdrop of the reported leakage of Class IX internal examination question papers the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) on Thursday warned of ‘blacklisting’ the educational institutions across the state found to be involved in such leakage.
According to the MBoSE officials three FIRs have been filed against the reported leakage of question-papers for Class IX internal examination in East Khasi and Jaintia Hills region.
It may be mentioned, that paper for Science & Technology subject was leaked and the exam was scheduled to be held on November 30.
“We will take stern action to the extent of blacklisting such schools found to be involved in the reported question paper leakage and the school will have to conduct their exams under strict supervision,” MBoSE executive chairman EP Kharbhih told reporters on Thursday.
He said the board will also ensure that these schools don’t become the deposit or examination centres for conducting such exams in the future. “Apart from this, the board will also take action against all those responsible co-ordinating officers and heads of institutions involved in the incidents,” Kharbhih warned.
Informing that a total of three FIRs have been lodged in this connection, Deputy Director M Marbaniang said, “While two FIRs have been filed with the Jowai police station and Khliehrait police station, the other one was filed with the Sadar police station here.”
Marbaniang, who had also conducted a visit to few of the schools here, said, the matter was first reported by the Head of St Dominic School Fr Majaw informing that one boy was caught with a handwritten question paper of some subject.
“When enquired from the boy, he told us that he got the question paper from another girl, who is studying in KJP School. The girl again revealed that she had got the same from a boy, who is a student of Christian Academy,” he said adding “This boy on interrogating informed he had got it from a student studying in the same school (Christian Academy).”
“We have already requested the police to speed up the investigation into the matter starting from the first boy, a student of St Dominic,” Marbaniang said adding that this time the board really wants to nail the culprits responsible for the leakage.
However, Marbaniang informed that in all the FIRs, the board did not specify the perpetrators by name but have cited the acts being done by unknown culprits.
Meanwhile, MBoSE has also instituted a separate two-member enquiry headed by the Deputy Director and the Academic Officer and the report is expected to be completed at the earliest.- By Our Reporter
