SHILLONG, JULY 29: One died and three others injured when they were knocked down by a car driven by a woman in the city here on Saturday morning, police said.
The incident took place at around 7.40 am when a Maruti Wagon-R vehicle bearing registration number ML-05G-0051 hit four pedestrians which include three women near United Bank at Nongthymmai, they said.
The vehicle was driven by a lady identified as Neelaksi Thakur.
Police said one of the victim identified as Ralbinora Ramsiej (38) died on the spot after she was severely injured in the accident.
Ramsiej, a resident of Nongthymmai, was on her way to the resident of Nongthymmai MLA, Jemino Mawthoh.
The injured persons identified as Bijola Suiam (56) and Rebina Suiam (36) of Nongthymmai Nongkhyriem and Albert Kharbuli (19) of Mawlai Nongkwar were immediately shifted to Shillong civil hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Mawthoh also rushed to the hospital.
