SHILLONG, JAN 29: Newly elected president of the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), Kitborlang Nongrem on Saturday urged the Centre to speed up its decision on the resolution for implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.
“We want the central government to speed up the matter as it is up to them (to give a final decision),” Nongrem told reporters.
He said that it is only the National People’s Party-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government who had taken a bold decision and passed an official resolution in the Assembly.
“We (extend) our support to the chief minister Conrad K Sangma to follow up the matter with the central government,” Nongrem stated.
On the growing demand for reviewing the state reservation policy, the NPP state youth wing leader said that he would not like to comment anything but assured to take up the matter with the party’s high level.
Spelling out his priorities, Nongrem said he would work for the strengthening of the party in the state.
“(We would soon) start the enrolment drive which will be done both online and offline,” he said while urging the youth of the state to join the NPP and work together for the betterment of the state.
The NPYF president further asserted the need to create an atmosphere of oneness and the feeling of brotherhood among the three tribes.
