SHILLONG, APR 19: NPP leader and deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Wednesday said the party is yet to decide on the candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Shillong parliamentary constituency.
Speaking to reporters, Dhar said a time will come for the party to decide who will be the candidate.
Dhar also said that there is no move from the NPP to approach the sitting Shillong MP Vincent H Pala to contest from the party. “Pala is from Congress. I don’t say there is a possibility or not but this is a collective decision of the party.”
When asked about the proposed merger of the PDF with his party, Dhar said, “Why do you want to know? It is the NPP’s initiative. I am not aware as all NPP MLAs are the same and we are united. You can ask from them (when this merger will take place) not me. If you ask me, I want today if they come.”
Dhar said there will be no change in the cabinet even if the merger takes place and that everything will remain as it is.
On the roster system, the deputy chief minister said there is nothing to worry as the government is on the job to resolve the issue.
“It is not a question of support or not but we have to take everybody on board and I think the government will have a meeting. The Chief Minister will take care of this and he will call for an all-party meeting,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dhar has claimed that the NPP is leading in the Sohiong constituency and is confident to win the election.
