SHILLONG, DEC 7: The opposition National People’s Party (NPP) today condemned the insensitive decision of the Mukul Sangma led state government for declaring December 28 and 29 as working days making it mandatory for all government servants to attend office.
“Christmas and New Years is a time everyone in Meghalaya cherishes as a time meant for Family and loved ones where everyone comes together to celebrate the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ,” NPP spokesperson and MLA James K Sangma said in a statement issued here.
He said that this action of the chief minister Mukul Sangma speaks volumes of his callous and insensitive attitude.
“It would seem that people are being made to work on these days only to facilitate laying of more Foundation Stones by Dr. Mukul Sangma,” he alleged..
Meanwhile, the NPP demands the chief minister to immediately revoke this order thereby allowing families to be together during this holy and festive season.
