SHILLONG, APR 2: The district administration of West Garo Hills has withdrawn the night curfew imposed across the district on March 19, 2026, citing restored normalcy and public convenience.
An order issued by the District Magistrate Vibhor Aggarwal stated, “Under review of the current situation, it is observed that normalcy has substantially been restored and the law and order situation is presently under control.”
“It is considered expedient and in public interest that the said restrictions be withdrawn,” Aggarwal said.
“The night curfew imposed vide Order No.CB.3/2026/59-A stands withdrawn with immediate effect.”
The order allows public movement, shops, and commercial establishments to resume lawful functioning, subject to compliance with laws. Citizens are urged to maintain peace and communal harmony.
“Any act or omission likely to disturb public tranquility shall invite strict legal action,” the order warned.
Law enforcement agencies remain on alert to prevent breaches of peace.
