SHILLONG, MAY 19: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday said that there is no shortage of essential commodities in the state.
His statement came in the wake of neighbouring Assam being affected by flash flood and the likelihood of Meghalaya being affected.
“As far as essential commodities are concerned we are ready to make sure that prices do not go up. We have already instructed the Food and Supply department to take care of this issue,” he assured.
On the hike in the prices of LPG and other essential commodities, Tynsong said, “All chief ministers need to have the same voice about the concern related to the hike in the prices of essential commodities, be it diesel, be it petrol or be it (cooking) gas. Therefore, this issue has to be taken up with the Government of India if at all they can give some sort of relief on certain items for the interest of the public in the entire nation.”
