SHILLONG, MAY 8: NPP national vice president and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Friday said the party has not taken any decision on its Rajya Sabha nominee.
Asked about the demand from sections in Garo Hills projecting James Sangma for the Upper House, Dhar said there was no problem with such suggestions but stressed that no decision had been made.
“We are yet to take a decision. Let his tenure complete first then we will sit as a party,” Dhar told reporters.
He was referring to incumbent Rajya Sabha MP Dr WR Kharlukhi.
“I think his tenure will end in June but I am not very sure.”
On whether the nomination should go to a candidate from a particular region, Dhar said the party does not decide based on region.
“…we never think region wise. Whatever the party thinks appropriate we will go with that because it is a collective decision not a one man show decision,” he said.
“The NPP is a very disciplined party. We always take everything on board,” Dhar added.
