SHILLONG, NOV 13: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids in South Garo Hills are part of a broader probe linked to the recent Delhi bomb blast.

“The information we have received indicates raids are taking place at multiple locations. The NIA is trying to gather details, and it is an ongoing investigation,” Sangma said, adding that it would be “incorrect” to discuss specifics due to the ‘sensitive nature of national security’.

He emphasized full cooperation from the state government.

“We are here to cooperate with them in every way possible, providing whatever help and support is needed. The matter is sensitive, and we will refrain from going into details.”

When pressed about the exact locations in South Garo Hills, the CM declined, reiterating the security implications.

“I do not want to compromise the investigation by disclosing details.”

On the safety of Shillong, Sangma said the situation is “completely different” and limited to background checks, adding there is ‘no cause for alarm’.

He also dismissed any specific alert for Meghalaya, noting it is simply part of the investigation process.

“The investigations are ongoing, and I will not comment beyond what is necessary to protect national security. There is nothing to worry about; it is part of the investigation,” he concluded.
