SHILLONG, AUG 4: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Road) Prestone Tynsong on Friday said National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) is on the job for repairing portions which are damaged and deplorable along the entire stretch of the Shillong-Dawki road.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said, “I have instructed the NHIDCL that the repairing work should be on. It is a running process I should say because the rain has also contributed to the damage of roads.”
“Secondly, we have so much traffic volume right from Rngain, from Langkyrdem up to Dawki where the land custom station is there. 600-700 trucks are plying everyday there. So I had instructed the NHIDCL to make sure that the road condition at any point of time if not very good at least should be okay for plying of the loaded and commercial vehicles as well as private vehicles,” he said.
With regards to the tendering process for implementation of the JICA project, the deputy CM said the process is in the final stage for package-I where the work order will be issued very soon.
“As far as package-II, package-IV and package-V, the tendering process is still on. They have already uploaded online so let us it will take little more time for them to screen and immediately to check in the technical process and thereafter the financial process,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tynsong also reviewed the road from Dianadubi-Darugre up to Williamnagar road, which was sanctioned under the Bharatmala Scheme.
This project was handed over to the NHIDCL and the tendering process is almost completed. However, the project is faced with issues relating to forest clearance and land.
“Therefore, I called a meeting today to resolve all these issues relating to forest and land where all deputy commissioners were part of it and we have already instructed the deputy commissioners to make sure that the land acquisition proceeding starts and also the issue of forest, which is pending with the DFO, that has also been corrected immediately,” Tynsong said.
