SHILLONG, SEPT 29: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday directed two union ministries to examine the state’s mining plan even as it extended the time for payment of royalty on already extracted coal till October 31.
Meghalaya government had submitted the mining plan before the National Green Tribunal during a hearing in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Sources said that the NGT has passed an order directing the Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Environment & Forests to examine the draft guidelines on mining submitted by the state government.
Meanwhile, the NGT also extended the time for payment of royalty of extracted coal in the state till October 31.
The order came in the wake of the NGT considering the submission for extension made by the state government counsel, who had contended that heavy rains had hampered the transport of coal.- By Our Reporter
