NGOs oppose move to transfer DC

SHILLONG, NOV 17: Six NGOs on Wednesday decided to oppose the alleged move of the state government to transfer the incumbent deputy commissioner of East Jaintia Hills E Kharmalki.

“The decision was taken in view of the fact that the present deputy commissioner is yet to complete his term,” said a joint statement issued by the NGOs comprising the EJNC, JSM, JSU, KSU, FKJGP and HNYF.

“Such practice will only disrupt the smooth functioning of the district,” they said while threatening to stage a protest if the state government does not revoke such a decision immediately.
