SHILLONG, OCT 19: The newly appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Narayana Swami is likely to visit Meghalaya in November to review and strengthen the functioning of the party in the state.
Swami, had assured of his visit to the state to the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president DD Lapang during a meeting held at New Delhi on Sunday.
During the discussion, Swami stated that he is visiting Meghalaya on November 5 and 6 to discuss at length various party matters and most importantly to encourage unity among the party members, which is a matter of concern and prime importance.
Lapang who is also the Chairman of the North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) later met Oscar Fernandes, former union minister and Janardan Dwivedi, AICC general secretary to exchange views on various matters pertaining to the
NECCC is an apex body of the Congress in the north eastern states.
Besides discussions on the functional aspects of the committee, they also have sought multiple ways and means to strengthen the Committee. Dwivedi has also assured that he will put a strong note to AICC president Sonia Gandhi to take appropriate actions.- By Our Reporter
