Shillong, Nov 2: Demanding an independent inquiry into the CBI report revelation of nepotism of ministers and legislators in the appointment of government school teachers, the Meghalaya unit of the BJP has demanded the resignation of the entire Assembly speaker, deputy speaker, ministers’and legislators to pave way for a fair probe.

The HSPDP, on the other hand, has said that the CBI report submitted to the high court confirmed that the Congress, UDP, NCP are all “hands-in-gloves” in “closed-doors” for their selfish ends.

BJP general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty said in a statement Friday that the party wants an independent inquiry into the appointment of teachers recommended by politicians. It also said that the party would give its final stand on the issue once it had gone through the 107 pages CBI report submitted to the court indicting the Assembly speaker, deputy speaker and legislators for recommending names of their candidates for appointment of assistant teachers in government schools.

Calling the CBI revelation “shocking and unbelievable” HSPDP spokesman and joint secretary G Nonglong demanded “strong action” against the speaker, deputy speaker, ministers and legislators who have been named in the CBI report for influencing in getting tit heir candidates appointed to the post of assistant teachers in government school.

In a statement released Friday Nonglong claimed that the manipulation and tampering of scoresheet to favour the candidates of the politicians were done in the residence of the then Education Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh which it said cannot be “condoned.”

Asking the political parties whose members were involved in nepotism in the appointment of the assistant teachers to come clean on the issue, the HSPDP questioned if these representatives have been voted to indulge in such “filthy”, “shameful” and “cheap acts.”

While saying that nobody is above the law and the law must take its own course against those found guilty, the HSPDP statement also appealed to the electorates that in the coming Assembly Election 2013, they should minutely analyze, judge, select and elect their representatives,

The statement said that the electorate must vote keeping in mind the individual’s background, character, education and integrity and secondly the candidates party’s ideology which “Preach and Practice” simultaneously.- By Our Reporters
