SHILLONG, APR 23: NEIGRIHMS adds another feather to its cap, when the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda conferred the KALYAKALP Award 2017 to the premiere institute for standing 1st in Kalyakalp assessment in category B Central Government run hospitals/institutions under Swachht Bharat Mission.
Swatchh Bharat is a mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and to streamline the Swatchhta in hospitals, Government of India initiated Kayakalp awards in the year 2015.
In 2015, NEIGRIHMS got 3rd award in the ranking under the Kayakalp scheme.
The gaps detected in 2015 were rectified in 2016 with a missionary zeal and NEIGRIHMS, by a little margin to AIIMS New Delhi, was placed at 2 nd rank.
But the aim was 1st rank and therefore in the path of continuous progress, NEIGRIHMS got 1st rank in group ‘B’ Hospitals/Institutions among Central Government run hospitals/institutions for the year 2018, the results of which were declared recently.
A representative team headed by the Director Prof.(Dr.) D. M. Thappa, along with members of Kalyakalp formally received the cheque worth Rs1.5 Crores, a citation, and a certificate on 19 th April 2018 in RML Hospital, New Delhi.
The Kayakalp award is given on assessment of all round performance in sanitation, hygiene, waste management, infection control, support services, hospital maintenance, energy conservation, innovative methods adopted and public grievance redressal mechanism.
The Kayakalp assessment goes through three steps, Internal assessment, Peer review assessment and Final assessment before the ranking is decided on the basis of overall marks obtained in all the steps of assessment. Director NEIGRIHMS, Prof. (Dr.) D.M.Thappa, congratulated all the stakeholders of NEIGRIHMS for third time achievement of NEIGRIHMS in the Swachhta mission.
He complimented the dedication and hard work of all the doctors and officials who worked hard for past one year to get the first rank in the Swatchhta assessment scheme “It is a moment of honour for all the stakeholders of NEIGRIHMS”, the Director said.
He stressed for maintenance of the rank in the coming years. He further assured that he would request the Government to review the decision of keeping the hospital in group B Hospitals/Institutions.
