NEIGRIHMS admin seeks week to consult Ministry, nurses defer stir

SHILLONG, SEPT 8: The NEIGRIHMS Nurses Association (NNA) has deferred its mass casual leave, scheduled for Wednesday, by seven working days after a meeting with the institute administration.

The administration sought a week to consult the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ahead of the Governing Council meeting, the NNA said in a press release.

The Association said its long-pending demands – regular recruitment for Nursing Officer posts, withdrawal of outsourcing proposal, implementation of MoHFW memorandum dated May 30, 2026 and early conduct of pending recruitment exam – remain unresolved.

It warned that if no concrete progress is made, it will launch an indefinite strike from September 17 as per its 14-day notice.
