According to Syiem, such incidents are frequently happening in the hospital where many, mainly from rural areas, faced problems of not getting adequate medical attention from the hospital authority

Syiem also informed that Nongrum, daughter of Mistora Nongrum of Riangmang, Mairang, was admitted in Shillong Civil hospital with a complaint of severe fever on July 19.
She was attended by doctors only at the emergency room when she was admitted in the hospital, Syiem said but added that after she was taken to the Female Medical Ward nobody attended to her.
“Despite several complaints made by her elder sister Ailis Nongrum to the nurses to send for the doctors to attend to her sister, she was merely sent away with an excuse that the doctors were busy in the Emergency Room,” Syiem revealed.
Bantilis Nongrum passed away the next day at around 5:30 p.m.
