SHILLONG, DEC 30: The Natinalist Congress Party (NCP) has resolved to put up candidates in all the sixty Assembly constituencies in the upcoming state elections to be held early next year.
The decision was taken at a meeting convened by the NCP national general secretary in-charge NE states Praful Patel and NCP national secretary in-charge North East Narendra Verma with the leaders from Meghalaya state recently.
The delegation led by NCP Meghalaya State Working President, Vijay Raj, general secretary SP Thapa, nationalist youth congress president, Torang R Marak, and Independent MLA from Gambegre Saleng A Sangma (special invitee) also apprised the political situation in Meghalaya.
The meeting also discussed various means to strengthen the party in Meghalaya head of the upcoming 2018 Assembly polls.
After a threadbare discussion it was resolved that the party shall put up candidates in all the constituencies in the forthcoming Assembly Election if possible and the central leaders have duly authorized SP Thapa to sign the Form-A & B (tickets for NCP candidates).
As the last convention held in Tura could not be attended by Praful Patel, MP and In-charge North-East NCP, it was also decided that another Convention would be held sometime in-between January 14 to 18 (the final date to be announced later) at Tura.
The NCP, Meghalaya State also submitted the list of candidates to the Central leaders who after going through found it to be satisfactory and have authorized the State Committee to take the final call on selection and finalization of the Party Candidates.
