National awards for teachers

SHILLONG, SEPT 6: Two schoolteachers from Meghalaya were presented with the prestigious National Teachers Awards as a mark of

recognition for their excellence services in New Delhi on the occasion of Teacher’s Day celebration.

The awards were presented by the President Pranab Mukherjee to Denis G Nongsiej, a headmaster of Upper Primary & Secondary School, Mawsynram and Audrey R Marak of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Tura.

Nongsiej and Marak were among the 150 meritorious teachers from across the country who have been selected by the Ministry of Human and Resources Development (MHRD) for the prestigious award.

Marak serves as a teacher in the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Tura for the past 28 years while Nongsiej has been extending his excellence services for 25 years.

“I have never dream to get such a prestigious award in my life but as a teacher I pledged to continue to work hard for the interest and welfare of my beloved students,” said an elated Nongsiej.-By Our Reporter
