SHILLONG, NOV 4: Meghalaya police headquarter on Tuesday released ten ‘most-wanted’ militants operating in the Garo and West Khasi hills district and also announced reward of Rs 10 lakh for any lead information that will facilitate their arrest.
“The police department seeks actionable intelligence against the most-wanted militants operating in various parts of the state,” Meghalaya police PRO said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The PRO said, “Any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of any of the militants listed by the police will be rewarded a cash award of Rs 10 lakh.”
The police official said that this is a part of the ongoing counter-insurgency operations launched against various militant groups operating in the Garo Hills region and the state, he added.
According to list provided by the police, most of the militants belong to the banned Garo rebel outfit, the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) and its splinter group, the Achik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF).
The other two most wanted militants listed by the police are Jack Marak and Chesrang D Sangma alias Goran of the AMEF. Both of them deserted the GNLA and floated the AMEF.
The police official assured that the names of the informants, whose information leads to the arrest of the militants, would be kept ‘top secret.’
