SHILLONG, OCT 20: Meghalaya Congress Pradesh Committee (MPCC) chief Vincent H Pala on Wednesday said that some more people will be joining the party after the bye-election.
“Immediately after the bye-election, quite a few more people will again be joining us, not only leaders but also grassroot people,” Pala told reporters.
He said that many people from Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi also wants to join the Congress.
Reiterating his priority to bring back former leaders to the party, Pala said that he was supposed to induct quite few more but the system in Congress.
“Whenever we induct new people (or any ex-CM, ex-minister and ex-MLA) we have to get approval from the high command,” he added.
Pala however said unfortunately because of the bye-election, he has not been able to discuss the matter in Delhi.
“We are targetting by the end of January or February, we will have series of joining and launching (programmes),” he said.
Soon after being appointed as new Congress chief, Pala welcomed the return of former home minister Robert Garnette Lyngdoh and former KHADC chief Pynshngain N Syiem in a function held last month.
The Shillong MP further informed that the MPCC will also launched an app for enrolment of not only youth but other people in the party.
“We have a good team which is preparing (the app). It is under trial now so very soon within a week we are going to launch, we are not going to wait till election is over,” he said.
