SHILLONG, FEB 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a road show at Khyndailad on February 24.
Addressing media persons on Wednesday, BJP state president Ernest Mawrie said, “It is for the first time in the history that the Prime Minister of the country will do a road show. I think all the citizens, especially those residing in Shillong would like to see and hear his speech because he is not only the PM of India but is also a world leader. He is the president of the G20.”
“Therefore, I request the public in general to come and attend the road show at police bazar on February 24,” he added.
Mawrie also said Khyndailad has been chosen as the venue for the road show because it is a centre for people from different constituencies in Shillong.
He informed that the Prime Minister will land at Upper Shillong helipad and from there he would go to Jhalupara point and then to straight to the state central library where he would pay flora tribute to the three freedom fighters of the state – U Tirot Sing, U Kiang Nangbah and Patogan Sangma.
This will be followed by delivering a speech at Khyndailad.
He said that the programme is scheduled to be held from 11 am to 1.30 pm so that people including students are not at all disturbed.
Pynthorumkhrah MLA AL Hek said that the Prime Minister does not want to disturb the students. “He had said by the time he came to Shillong, all students should be in their classroom…this shows the positive thought process of the Prime Minister who always thinks for the convenience of the public,” he added.
