SHILLONG, JULY 21: A company’s employee Sunil Sunar alias Kale Buro (23) was arrested for his alleged involvement in stealing 61 mobile sets worth up to Rs 13.71 lakhs on Tuesday. The theft took place on July 5 when Sunil broke open the godown of the company and lifted the mobile sets (Samsung), which were brought from Guwahati for distribution to M/sTradesell Communication, at Jhalupara.
Sunil was working as a driver of M/s Suman Transport and was arrested from Garikhana, East Khasi Hills District SP (City) Vivek Syiem told newsmen. According to him, Sunil took advantage of being the employee of the company and break into the godown by forcibly opening the shutter.
Sunil was arrest after an FIR was filed on July 6 and the same was registered under section 457/380 IPC. Stating that the accused is a history sheeter, Syiem said,Sunil, who hails from Paltan Bazar, was earlier involved in cases of theft and burglary.
Syiem informed that 31 stolen Samsung mobile phones (worth over Rs 4.75 lakh) was recovered by police from the accused residence while adding that efforts are on to recover the rest of the mobiles.- By Our Reporter
