SHILLONG, DEC 15: With Christmas just a mere ten days away, the students of Martin Luther Christian University and the All Saints’ Cathedral Youth Fellowship (ASCYF) in collaboration with the NSS MLCU Unit, on Tuesday organized a musical event, ”Carols under the Christmas Tree”, to celebrate Christmas.
The event was held at All Saints’ Cathedral ground and drew crowds from different walks of life. The event started with a bible reading and a prayer by the Rt. Rev. Michael Herenz, Bishop, Diocese of North East India, CNI.
The MLCU students and the members of the ASCYF performed Christmas items and carols. As part of the English & Communication Community project of the MA Music 3rd Semester, the children from the Mary Rice Center also performed with the students.
The objective of the project is to encourage the students from the school to exhibit their talent through music, to sensitise the children to the possibility that any material can be turned into musical instruments and to prepare the children for a public music performance
Performances by MLCU students were accompanied by both traditional and western instrument and the this event is one of the many platforms for the students to showcase not just their musical talent but also give them confidence for their future career.-By Our Reporter
