SHILLONG, JUNE 28: Suspended Congress legislator from Mawlai PT Sawkmie on Tuesday asked the cement factories to indicate the financial assistance extended by them to the state of Meghalaya, which has been affected to a great extent due to landslides and floods.
In a statement, Sawkmie said the state has experienced heavy expenditures due to flash floods, landslides and loss of precious lives.
He however said that the cement companies like Star Cement, Dalmia Cement and Topcem Cement have extended financial assistance of Rs 1 crore, Rs 50 lakh and Rs 30 lakh respectively, to the Assam government.
Sawkmie questioned how much these companies have given to Meghalaya as relief and financial assistance since the production of cement is from the state.
“I urge the companies to come out openly with the financial assistance given to our state,” he demanded.
