Shillong, Oct 17: Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla winds up the diamond jubilee of Union Christian College (UCC) Wednesday at Umiam Khwan, Ri-Bhoi district. Thanhawla who came all along from Mizoram expressed happy to learn that students from Mizoram comprised the largest segment in the college.
Speaking at the closing function held at the college auditorium at Umiam Khwan, Thanhawla lauded the contribution made by the college for the students of North East in particular and the country as a whole. He said, “North East is the most backward region of the country, so we need to educate to remove the backwardness of the region.”
Stating that the college has been going through many difficulties, Thanhawla said that sixty years is not short way, it is long journey and remarkable milestone for the college. He conveys his thankfulness for the success of the college.
He also released the souvenir of the college depicting the journey during the last sixty year since 1952.-By Our Reporter
