TURA, JAN 24: Sillian Sangma, a youth from Rongchigre village, near Rongram in West Garo Hills, who had gone missing for about four years in Kolkata finally arrived at home and reunited with his mother and other family members. Sillian, 25 had gone missing since December 2012 from a railway station in Kolkata, while he was on his way to Guwahati from Chennai. He had gone to Chennai seeking for a job.
Recently, his whereabouts were located when an auto driver from Kolkata helped him to call his relatives in Garo hills and several people including NGO members from Tura, when to receive him in Kolkata.
He reached yesterday around 7:30 pm. He was traced in Kolkata last week.
“We are really grateful to all who helped us to get back our son. I never expected to see him again but always believed in God. It is He (God) who gave us our son back. I have nothing to repay anyone, who helped us except our blessings which we want to give abundantly,” said Nedila Sangma, the mother of the youth.
Shoshon Sangma, a relative and social activist who went to Kolkata to receive Sillian said, “If it was in any other city, he (Sillian) would not have survived. It is only because of the city being Kolkata ‘city of joy’ that he was able to live. The city is filled with good Samaritans and it is all those small contributions that they provided over the past four years that Sillian is back with his family. No amount of praise is going to be enough for the city of Kolkata and its people. We are absolutely humbled by their support”.
