Two police stations and an office of the Meghalaya Government Construction Corporation (MGCC) in the state capital were attacked with petrol bombs on Wednesday morning.
“Petrol bombs were lobbed by miscreants at three locations in Shillong. However, there were no damages reported,” Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills Rituraj Ravi said.
The three locations include the office of the Meghalaya Government Construction Corporation (MGCC) at Rilbong and two police stations – Sadar police station and Rynjah police station, he said.
He informed that the incident took place at around 1 am at MGCC office when the petrol bomb was lobbed at the premises. CCTV footage of the incident showed that the petrol bomb was targeted at the vehicles parked inside the premises of the MGCC office but luckily it fell behind the vehicles.
The SP also informed that the incident at Rynjah police station took place at 2.40 am when a bottle was thrown in the compound while at Sadar police station at around 2.50 am when two bottles were thrown at the parking area from across the boundary wall. “However the bottles did not explode, and have been seized. No damage,” he said.
“Cases have been registered and investigation under progress,” the SP informed.
