SHILLONG, AUG 16: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh has recently visited the site for construction of International Multi-Sports Stadium and Football Stadium at Ampati in South West Garo Hills to inspect and review the progress of construction in connection with the National Games 2022.
During the inspection, the Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar S Director of Sports & Youth Affairs, Matsiewdor War-Nongbri, District Police Chief, BSW Momin, Asstt.Director, Sports, JP Marak, other district officials and Subhash Jhunjhunwala, Director of J C Infra Corporation Ltd, the company which is assigned with the project at an estimated cost of Rs 46 crore.
The Minister stressed on the need to complete the massive sporting infrastructure within the stipulated time of three years.
The site located at Bolsalgre on the outskirts of Ampati with an area of 16 acres which was sanctioned under NLCPR. During his visit, the minister also briefly interacted with members of the families of Bolsalgre-Bandoraja A·king who donated their land for the purpose.
Earlier, the Minister, who is also in-charge of Agriculture and Horticulture departments, also visited the Cold Storage Facility at Garobadha, which has been lying non-functional for a long time, to look at the possibilities of reviving the facility for the benefit of the farmers of the State. One of the few cold storage facilities in the region, it was managed by District Agriculture & Marketing Cooperative Society (DAMCOS).
The Minister, accompanied by Agri-Horti officials also discussed the possibility of shifting the congested Garobadha Market to the area near the Cold Storage Facility.
