TURA, AUG 27: A militant was lynched to death by the public when unidentified gunmen abducted a trader from a market in West Garo hills and fleeing with the victim. The suspected militants opened fired at the market sending shivers as people hurriedly close down their shops.
The incident took place at Chibinang market, near Phulbari town, about 105 km from Tura at about 7:00 pm.
IG (operation) GHP Raju said, “Seven to eight person, one in camouflage and the rest in civil dress open fire and then abducted Jahanuddin.” He added, “While they were fleeing the public got caught four of them and lynched one to death”.
Three of them have been handed over to police.
Locals said that the militants came in Sumo and abducted Jahanuddin Ahmed, 45, who runs a small electronic goods shop. They held Ahmed captive and moved towards Tikrikilla town. Police have launched an operation to nap the perpetrators.- From Our Correspondent
