Meghalaya National Lok Adalat settles 183 cases worth Rs 1.34 Cr

SHILLONG, MAY 9: A total of 183 cases worth Rs 1,34,86,214 were settled during the National Lok Adalat held across Meghalaya on Saturday, the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority said.
The exercise was conducted in the High Court of Meghalaya and in all districts of the state under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority.
It was held under the patronage of Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere, Patron-in-Chief of MSLSA, and supervised by Justice H S Thangkhiew, Executive Chairman of MSLSA, and Justice W Diengdoh, Chairperson of the High Court Legal Services Committee.
Member Secretary E. Kharumnuid said the Lok Adalat took up 625 matters in total. “In the National Lok Adalat, 242 pre-litigation cases and 383 pending cases were taken up for settlement,” he said. Of these, 183 cases reached settlement.
“The total amount settled was Rs. 1,34,86,214/-,” Kharumnuid added.
