SHILLONG, MAY 22: The Meghalaya IAS Officers Association (MIASOA) today expressed shock, disbelief and anguish over the judgment passed by the special CBI court convicting Meghalaya chief secretary KS Kropha and two others of corruption in a coal scam.
Officers attending an emergent meeting of the association held here, also unanimously expressed their support to Kropha and his family during this difficult phase.
Kropha, was the former Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Coal. The two others who were convicted include former Coal Secretary HC Gupta and KC Samria, who was a director in-charge of coal allocation.
The three former bureaucrats of the ministry were sentenced to three years in jail by the special CBI court.
The case was related to the allocation of a coal mining block in Madhya Pradesh to a private company.
However, in a statement issued here, the MIASOA informed that it has also decided to take up the matter with the Central IAS Officers Association, New Delhi.
“The officer (Kropha) who has served 35 years of selfless service in various capacities is known for his unimpeachable integrity and has had an unblemished service record,” the association said.
Meanwhile, the association also said that the fraternity of officers fervently hope that justice shall prevail and Kropha would be honourably exonerated from all charges.
