Shillong, Sept 7: GAD minister AL Hek informed the assembly Friday that the government is yet to notify ‘Emblem’ of the state as it is still in the process of making improvement and modification after which it will be send to the Cabinet for approval.
Hek was replying to zero hour notice moved by opposition leader Conrad K Sangma on the status of the Emblem of Meghalaya. He said, “Only after making the improvement and modifications, the final Emblem would be placed before the Cabinet again for its approval”.
The GAD) department had conducted a contest for designing the state’s Emblem in which a total of 123 entries responded to the advertisement.
The screening of the entries was done by a committee comprising of chief secretary, additional chief secretary, commissioners and secretary of GAD, directors of arts and culture and information and public relations and tourism.
“Subsequently, three entries were short listed by the committee with R Kamtre Sumer, Jowai at first position, Anup Das Gupta, Arunachal Pradesh at 2nd position and Sanghamitra Shan, Kolkata at 3rd position,” he said.- By Our Reporter
