Meghalaya CM visits COVID ward in Tura, interacts with patients, doctors

SHILLONG, JUN 2: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday took the risk of visiting the COVID-19 ward at the Tura civil hospital and interacted with the patients, doctors and other frontline workers.

Sangma was made to wear full PPE during his visit.

“…I manage to meet most of the patients and give them assurance that we will do whatever we can from our side (to help them),” the Chief Minister said.

Lauding the team of doctors and health workers for working very hard in the fight against COVID-19, Sangma said, “In these 20 minutes (of wearing PPE) itself you can see how difficult it is the kind of condition the doctors and nurses have to work under. I did it for 20 minutes and they are doing it everyday so it is something that we must all appreciate and we must realize that we have to takecare of ourselves and if we don’t, then there will be more pressure and more risk to the doctors.”

“Therefore, I once again request all citizens to follow the protocols so that we can be a part of this entire fight against this covid and reduce the stress on the doctors and medical fraternity,” he added.
