Since the coordination meeting in end March, between the two NDA partners in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party karyakartas from every district of 1-Shillong Constituency have hit the ground hard to ensure its ally NPP’s victory from Shillong Lok Sabha seat.
Over ten thousand active karyakartas have pulled out all stops to ensure the state of Meghalaya contributes its representatives in the NDA Govt led by Narendra Modi, a Govt that looks set to return for the third successive time, as predicted by every opinion poll over the last few months.
As the campaigning date comes closer to the deadline, the enthusiasm and eagerness to organize meetings have hit a fever pitch. BJP legislator Shri Sanbor Shullai held a series of meetings at Kenches Trace, Laban and cantonment area, urging party supporters to cast their vote in favour of the NPP symbol during these elections.
Earlier, Meghalaya BJP ST Morcha led by state ST Morcha Vice President Priyambada Blah and ST Morcha General Secretary Eunesscy Khyriem campaigned for Shillong Constituency’s NDA candidate – Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh – at Nongrang and Thangmaw village in Eastern West Khasi Hills District.
The meeting was also attended by district president Wanpynbiang Nongtariang along with Pranes Nongrang and Smt Sunita Swer amongst others.
Meetings were also organized at five mandals under Ri-Bhoi district in support of the NDA candidate, under the supervision of District President Shri Sen Thabah and similar mass gatherings were witnessed at East Jaintia Hills district, organized by District President Commanderful Sana and his energetic, highly motivated team of party karyakartas. BJP National Council member David Kharsati and state General Secretary Wankitbok Pohshna graced the public meetings in both districts.
The OBC Morcha also got into the act, organizing a meeting at Nongpoh, an initiative by Maneshwar Singh, which saw the presence of Smt Dell, General Secretary of East Khasi Hills and OBC President Shri Arun Kumar.
State BJP Kisan Morcha president Ralden V Shabong was present at the meeting too, lending his support to the NDA candidate.
Special mention has to be made of State BJP Mahila Morcha, led by Susuki Pariat and youth wing – BJYM, led by its President Mewaker Lyngdoh, whose valuable contribution and hard work helped make each political function a great success.
In fact, BJP Mahila Morcha team has been working tirelessly, door to door canvassing for NDA candidate Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh in prominent parts of Shillong city and other areas.
Looking at the inspirational work of the various Morchas, leaders and workers of the BJP in Meghalaya, the state unit of the party is certain of an NDA sweep in the state. Iss baar 400 paar, this time BJP will cross 400 Members of Parliament.
