SHILLONG, JULY 30: The joint Assam and Meghalaya IAS and IPS cadres meeting was held in Shillong on Thursday to discuss issues related to the IAS, IPS and IFS officers of both the states.
While the Meghalaya delegation was represented by chief secretary PBO Warjri, the Assam delegation was led by its chief secretary Vinod Kumar Pipersenia and senior officials from the three departments – personnel, forest and police.
“We were here and we discussed IAS, IPS and IFS related issues,” Assam chief secretary Vinod Kumar Pipersenia told reporters after the meeting.He said, “The two chief secretaries have to meet and decide as to who is eligible for promotion, how many will come to Assam and how many in Meghalaya.”
According to him, it was a routine meeting of both the state to decided which cadres have to be promoted to the next rank. “These issues are being decided today,” Vinod said while failing to disclose more details on the outcome of the meeting.
When asked whether the boundary dispute issue was also taken up during the meeting, Meghalaya chief secretary PBO Warjri said, “No, because this (issue of joint cadre) was the only thing on the agenda so we did not discuss on any other issues.”- By Our Reporter
