Medical camp for better health Shillong, August 12: A free medical camp was held at Thynroit, a village some forty kilometers from Shillong for the villagers. Organized by the Meghalaya Youth Foundation (MYF) in collaboration with the NSS unit of Holy Child Higher Secondary School, the camp saw more than one hundred fifty farmers and children attending. Free medicines were prescribed, distributed and administered to those who were present and undergone examination by four doctors from the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS). Before the commencement of the medical camp, the Sordar of Thynroit Village D Nongrum welcomed the initiative taken by the MYF and the NSS as well as the goodwill of the doctors of NEIGRIHMS under the guidance of Dr Star Pala. Dr Pala said that such camps are necessary as they can cater to the needs of the people especially in rural areas. He said, “Health is very precious and I urge you all to take care of your health, by keeping your hygiene, and whenever you fall ill you should consult a doctor at your nearest PHC.” MYF chairman Joannes Lamare said that the primary focus of MYF is to cater to health related issues especially in rural areas as well as undertaking projects to uplift the economic conditions of the rural people, especially the youths. – By Our Reporter
