SHILLONG, FEB 21: Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) working president Pynshngain N Syiem on Monday claimed that the MDCs in the KHADC are still intact.
Speaking to reporters, Syiem, who is also opposition leader in the council, said that the present strength of the Congress in the KHADC is 7, after Fantin Lakadong left and joined the National People’s Party (NPP).
“As of now, we are intact and there is no sign that they (MDCs) are planning to join other political parties,” he said.
He was reacting to reports alleging the four MDCs including Bajop Pyngrope and B Ryntathiang are likely to join the NPP.
Syiem however said that he cannot say anything keeping in mind the dynamics of politics. “Yes there are reports stating that they may join the NPP but till today there is no sign but I cannot say whether they will join or not,” he added.
When asked about Bajop’s disappointment after his name was removed from the result of the election to the president of the party’s state youth wing, the MPCC working president however said that he cannot comment on the matter since the election was conducted by the IYC.
“Infact when Bajop met his uncle and TMC leader Charles Pyngrope that time also people had speculated that he may join the TMC. Now also because of this youth president election, it is speculated that he may join other parties but as of now there is no sign that he will come of the party as he is very with us,” he added.
