Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong and St Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong bagged the top positions in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations in the science and commerce streams respectively.
The results were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) here on Wednesday.
Sohan Bhattacharjee of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong, bagged the first position in HSSLC (Science) by securing 483 marks while St Mary’s Ferry Filarisha Wann secured the first position in HSSLC (Commerce) with 472 marks.
The second position in the science stream was bagged by Gordon Kupar Nongbri of St Edmund’s Higher Secondary School and third position by Ar Meker Marpna of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School while the second place in the commerce stream went to Raj Paul of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School and the third position was shared by Pongkoch Dutta of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Pinky Kumari of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School and Aditya Prasad of Don Bosco College (Higher Secondary Section), Tura.
The other students who featured in the top-10 list of science include Aniket Pattanayak of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Hr Sec School and Amebaaihunsha Kharbhih of St Anthony’s in 4th position, Rilaakor Lamare of St Anthony’s (5th), K Vansanpuii of St Edmund’s and Weibha Nongtdu Lakiang of North Liberty Hr Sec School, Jowai (6th), Joshaviah Onan Paswet of North Liberty Hr Sec School, Jowai (7th), Abhijit Deb of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Hr Sec School (8th), Freddy Lyngkhoi of Sacred Heart Boys’ Hr Sec School and Edward Pohlong Lamare of St Edmund’s Hr Sec School (9th) and Kevinstrong Lawriniang of Mairang Presbyterian Science College (Hr Sec Section), Mairang (10th).
Those in the commerce stream include: Nearlina Bani Nongbri of St Anthony’s and Ryan Surong Myrthong of St Edmund’s shared the 4th position, Ishuah Kharsohtun of St Anthony’s (5th), Sneha Paul of St Edmund’s (6th), Dicky Nongpluh of Shillong College Hr Sec Education (7th), Imazul Haque Laskar of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Hr Sec School (8th), Alphi Clarissa Warjri of St Mary’s Hr Sec School (9th) and Jagjot Singh of Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh bagged the 10th position.
The pass percentage in the science stream was recorded at 85.24 while in the commerce stream it was 80.26 percent.
In district wise, South West Garo Hills registered the highest pass percentage with 100 per cent in the science stream followed by East Jaintia Hills District with 95.92 per cent while the lowest is East Garo Hills District with 68.46 per cent.
In the commerce stream, the district with the highest pass percentage is West Khasi Hills with 100 per cent followed by East Jaintia Hills at 97.50 per cent while South West Garo Hills is the lowest with 60 per cent.
